Nasa Science Night at Willow Elementary School with Nosie the Learning Robot

Nosie plays games and teaches about the planets at Willow's 2026 science night!

CVMakers, NASA staff, JPL engineers, astronomy guides, teachers, and volunteers worked a busy night for the LVUSD Observe the Moon Science Night at Willow Elementary School. Kids and parents alike learned about space, the planets, electronics, robots, the sky, and so much more!

CVMake member Peter brought his latest robot, Nosie. This interactive robot plays games with the kids, makes jokes, and teaches about space. One game has the kids spin a wheel of all the planets. When the rocket lands on a planet, Nosie tells us all some interesting planet facts. Occasionally, she launches her own rocket, too! The robot was built from 3D printed parts, motors, and electronics including a local AI using the Nvidia Jetson board.

We had several exhibits where Makers explained how a plasma field works, how to use a voltmeter, hands-on with computer memory & circuit boards, Lego models of the original Moon Landing, and a fun laser-cut puzzle box with candy hidden inside.
