Analyzing Output with an Oscilloscope

Raspberry Pi Pico Signal Analysis

Working on an LED array, sometimes you like to see what’s happening to the signals bopping through the wires. In this case, trying to find out why the array was displaying everything correctly except that it was mirrored right-to-left. Being able to see these signals helped fix it!

An oscilloscope displays voltage over time. If you vary the voltage sensitivity (vertical) and time scale (horizontal) you’ll see waveforms on the screen. Most O-scopes have two channels or more, so you can overlay multiple signals. In music, especially electronic music, you hear about square waves, triangle waves, sawtooth, etc. With a scope like this, you can see those waveforms on the screen. It’s awesome.
